Prom/Special Occasion Makeup!

It's almost summer (we hope!), which means lots of you will have your proms or other special occasions coming up!

Here at MUA Towers we thought we would do a blog post of a few makeup ideas that you can wear to your prom, that wedding you're going to or simply on an evening out!

1950's Prom Look

For the first look we have gone for neutral eyes, some winged liner and red lips! Hot Pink lips - such as Shade 3 Lipstick would also look great!

For this look we have used the new Merged Eyeshadow Trio in 'Legendary', using the lightest shade to highlight the brow bone and swept into the inner corner of the eye and down to the inner corner of the lower lash line.  We have then used the middle shade all across the lid.

We've added Liquid Eyeliner in 'Black' and Every Lash Mascara in 'Black'.

For the lips we have used our Lip Liner in 'Red Drama' and added the lipstick from the Lip Boom in 'Bring It' - for that extra little bit of Hollywood glamour use the lipgloss over the top of the lipstick!

Pretty Pink Prom Look

For this look we have used the Merged Eyeshadow Trio in 'Legendary' again, using the lightest colour to highlight the brow bone and inner corner, the mid colour on the lid and then sweeping the darkest shade into the socket line to add depth!

We've then added the 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Eye Pen in 'Auburn' to create a winged liner on the top lid and a soft smokey liner on the lower lash line.  We then used the E1 Eyeshadow Brush to add the darkest shade from 'Legendary' over the liner to give it a bit more of a shimmer!

To finish off we've used Mega Volume Mascara in 'Black/Brown' and then our Cream Blusher in 'Bittersweet' on our cheeks and lips for a lovely pretty pink makeup look!

Simple Smokey Eye Prom Look

A failsafe evening look that always looks great is a monochrome smokey eye!

We've used the Eyeshadow Trio in 'Smoke Screen' to create this look, team with a winged liner and some Every Lash Mascara in 'Black' you've got an evening classic!

If you're going for smokey eyes then why not team it with our Power Pout in 'Rendezvous' to give your lips a bit of colour that will really last!

We have a step-by-step guide of this eye look here

Smokey Eyes with a Twist

For this eye look we have created a colourful twist on a smokey eye - you could team this with nude or pink lips!

Why not match  your eyes to your nails?

First off, choose your colour! - we've gone with pink from the Glitterball Palette, but any bright colour would look great!

Take the colour you've chosen into the inner corner of your eye, onto your lower lash line and about half way across your lid.  Then add the black (or whatever darker shade you have chosen) into the outer corner.  Blend the darker shade using upwards, inwards circular motions.  Use the 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Eye Pen in 'Black' to create a winged liner on your top lash line and a soft smokey liner on your bottom lash line!

A great colourful twist on a classic smokey eye!

Send us pics of your prom makeup looks you create using MUA!! We'd love to see them!

Tracey from bitenomore.blogspot.co.uk shows us some lovely summer nails!

The lovely guys at MUA asked me to do a post on Water Marbling using MUA Polish.
Of course I said yes Emoji as the polish is now in a new designed bottle, it water marbles somuch better, spreading well in the water, better than some more expensive brand polish!

So I was sent some polish and a fur effect to do this post.

Bright Coral, Natural Days, Fever Red, Top Coat, Strawberry Crush and Fluffy Puff.

These were the colours I chose to use.

I had a beautiful water marble design in mind with these wicked colours, and an accented nail on the ring fingers using the Fluffy Puff Fur Effect.

The first thing I did was paint my ring fingers with with two coats of Fever Red, and all the others with two coats of Natural Days.

Then using bottled water at room temperature, filled a paper drinking cup, to an inch from the top.

I have tried glass bowls, but not deep enough and too big. Plastic drinking cups are a big no no, as when I tried the nail polish burnt a hole in the cup and the water went everywhere!

The brush must be fully loaded with polish to drip into the water. Hold close to the water, but not touching, and don't let it drip from to high up, as it will just sink to the bottom, and not spread. Drip the polish in colour by colour, till your happy with the rings (bullseye) of colours.

I use a cuticle stick (orange stick), but a needle or cocktail stick will work too, as long as it has a point on the end. Very carefully and lightly draw the polish from the outside, into the middle.

Do this from all angles, to create a flower in the middle of the ring of polish.

Fingers already taped with masking tape, to save on the clean up after, line your nail up, and dunk it into the water. Keeping it under, clean the remaining polish on the surface, I use a cotton bud. Then slowly lift your finger out.

Then just continue the same method for the rest of your fingers Emoji

For the accent nail, I was going to do a pink Fluffy Puff flower, but wasn't too keen when I tried it out on a nail stick. It looked to plain against the rest of the nails. So I decided to do fluffy Polka Dots.

The finished design rocks Emoji

Hope you all like this, and try it yourself.

2 Tone Lips!

Here at MUA Towers we're loving the look of 2 tone lips!

We thought we would show you how to do it and suggest some shades that we've been using to create the 2 tone look!  Here we've used 2 shades of pink, but you can use any colours you like!

Step 1: Line your lips using our Intense Colour Lip Liner - we've used 'Pink Me Up' here.

Step 2: Using the L1 Lip Brush take the darker shade that you are using - here we've picked Shade 3 - and take it over the liner and blend half way down to the centre of your lips.  Make sure that you don't apply too much lipstick as this will make it harder to keep the centre of your lips clear from lipstick.

Step 3: Add the lighter shade to the centre of your lips and blend outwards to meet the darker shade - we have used the lipstick from our Lip Boom in 'Cheeky' here!

Why not try out this look using our Shade 13 Lipstick and the lipstick from our Lip Boom in OMG with the Red Drama Lip Liner??

Send us pics of the 2 tone lip looks you create using your MUA lipsticks!!

The products that we have used in this blog post are:
L1 Lip Brush
Intense Colour Lip Liner - Pink Me Up
Lipstick - Shade 3
Lip Boom - Cheeky
Intense Colour Lip Liner - Red Drama
Lipstick - Shade 13
Lip Boom - OMG

Kim from Kimpantsmakeup shows us the NEW Eyeshadow Trios

Hi MUA fans!

I'm Kim from the 'Kimpants Makeup' blog, I've been writing my own blog for a few months now. I post my makeup looks regularly and I'd say 99% of the time there's at least one MUA product involved.

I always tweet MUA when I use their products and they always reply or retweet, but I never expected any more to come of it...

Until now of course! I was contacted on Twitter by Xavia who works for the company. She asked me to email her as she had a question for me. I didn't want to get my hopes up - it could have been anything - but of course, I did secretly have my fingers crossed for something exciting and rightly so, because she wanted to ask me to write this guest blog post for them!

They sent me these:

The new Mrged Eyeshadow Tios and their Lipgloss Trios as well!

The first thing that stood out when I opened them was how pretty the eyeshadows are - they look like little planets. Planets full of joy and glitter! The colours are gorgeous too, as are the colours of the lipglosses. I couldn't wait to try them out and they definitely have lived up to my expectations.

I also just want to point out that even though they did send me these, if I hadn't liked them, instead of doing a big, old, fake post, I would have emailed them back to see if I could swap the products for something else - I wouldn't have wanted to use rubbish makeup as much as you probably don't want me to recommend it to you!

So anyways... In the video below, I'm going to show you how to create this day to evening makeup look using the trios (and a clever tip for adding some extra drama to the shadows too!).

Most of the colours in the trios compliment each other well, so you could easily vary this look to suit what colours you're wearing or what colours you prefer, as long as you have your lights/mediums/darks in the same places.  For added intensity I'd also recommend adding a matte black shadow in the crease, but I wanted to show a look you could create just using the trios.  MUA do a great matte black which I use religiously. (Shade 20)

As you can see from the picture as well, there are plenty of shades of lipglosses to choose from, from pretty pale pinks and nudes for day time, to brights and darks for evening. I actually wore the dark colour that I used in the evening look all day today - it lasted really well and didn't dry my lips out in the slightest. Good stuff, yes?

So, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and picked up some tips on how you could use these trios. This is just a small fraction of my MUA eyeshadow collection, so if you want to see more looks using their shadows, you can find plenty in my blog!

Thank you so much to MUA for giving me the opportunity to write this guest post!

Love

60's Inspired Eyes!

Here at MUA Towers we're absolutely loving the 60's trend this season!!

What better way to channel the 60's than with a statement 60's eye look??

For this look we used the Dusk Til Dawn Palette, but why not try a colourful twist on this eye look?

Step 1: Using the E1 Eyeshadow Brush apply the pearlescent white shade (4th along on the top row) all across your lid and just above your crease line, and blend into your highlighter on your brow bone.

Step 2: Using the 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Eye Pen in 'Black' draw a curved line just above your socket line, following the natural shape of your eye and moving a little further away from your socket line on the outer corner of your eye.

Step 3: Blend the top half of the line you have just drawn, you want to keep the bottom edge sharp!  We blended our line using our E2 Eyeshadow Contour Brush and blended another shade from our Dusk Til Dawn Palette into the line - for this we used the Gunmetal Grey (2nd on the top row).

Step 4: Add winged Liquid Eyeliner in 'Black', and take the lightest shade just underneath your bottom lash line using the E1 Eyeshadow Brush.

Step 5: We also took the darker shade just along our socket line to really make our eyes pop!

Step 6: Add our Eyelashes in 'Vixen', lots of Every Lash Mascara in 'Black' and finish off with the Lipstick from our Lip Boom in 'Vibe'!

Why not send us photos of your 60's eye looks??
