And The Winner Is….

To celebrate reaching over 100 followers on our blog we have now picked our winner for The MUA give away to win our brand new Glamour days and Glamour night’s eye shadow palette’s!
~
We loved Sarah’s comment on why she loves MUA:
“We all know Karla loves MUA, but I love MUA because… it's an incredible brand! The products can easily rival any high end 'premium' product, there's a massive range of products with some gorgeous shades and it's really affordable! Makes you wonder what brands like Urban Decay, Mac etc (Yes I did just compare you to Mac...) are charging so much for when you can clearly produce high quality products for a fraction of the cost! It's also nice to come across a brand who actually listens to and communicates with their customers. What I love most though is purely the variety, it's so nice to be able to afford to experiment with all the different shades and create a range of different looks. Thank you MUA for giving me back some creativity and colour to my life!”

~
Sarah please email MUA at mua@fbbeauty.co.uk to claim your amazing prize!
Thanks for everyone’s lovely comments on why you love MUA, we are all overwhelmed. Stay tuned for more MUA giveaways…

Get Sparkly Eye’s Ready for The Party Season!

I love Katy Perry’s OTT eye makeup in the above picture using lots of glitter with smoky eyes.

Get Katy’s Eyes:

1. Apply professional eye primer, £4 to eyelids before eye makeup.

2. 3 in 1 extreme contour eye pen, £1.50 is great for outlining the winged smoky eye. Fill in the remaining area with the black eye pen; this will act as a base to seal the look with your chosen eye shadow.

3. Using Smoke Screen , £2.50 in the grey shade apply over the winged eye.  To add more depth and sparkle, add the black shade in the eye crease and lash line. And finally to add highlights to your look with the white shade in the inner corner of the eyes.

4. To get Katy’s sparkly eyes, MUA glitter eyeliner, £1 in black ‘Shade 10’ look s great gently applied in the outer crease and lash line.

5. Our glitter eyeliner, £1 in silver ‘shade 1’ looks amazing in the inner corner of the eyes and on your bottom lash line!
Look out for more glitter make-up looks this week!

Make-up tips for concealing dark circles after your heavy Saturday night out...

With the right tools and MUA cosmetics you can help hide dark under-eye circles.
Concealer is the most effective tool for hiding dark under-eye circles. The best of the best is MUA Professional Brush On Concealer Pen, £2 It works so well because it is a liquid that dries to a matte finish. Blend from the inside corner of your eye to the outside until the concealer is completely blended with your skin.
~
My tips to hide those dark under eye circles:

·         When you're applying concealer for hiding dark under-eye circles, use a light touch. Too much concealer will draw attention to the skin under your eyes.
·         Yellow-base concealer is generally the best choice for hiding dark under-eye circles.
  • Powder the area under your eyes with pressed powder to set the corrective concealer, and then go over the area one more time with your regular cream everyday concealer, such as the hide and conceal cover stick, £1 (the one that matches the rest of your happy, non-discoloured skin)

My party make-up tips for the weekend using MUA

Party Makeup is very different from the makeup we apply on a regular basis. As most of the parties are scheduled on evening, party make up is obviously more glittery and glamorous than the regular make up you are used to doing. So here are some pointers before you apply your party make up:
·         Go for a makeup that suits the mood of the party.
·         Choose the makeup that complements your skin tone.
·         If you are planning to do something new make sure you trial it first
~
Tips for Party Makeup:

·         Cleanse, tone and moisturise before applying makeup

·         Apply a matte foundation, £2 on your face and neck to make your skin smooth and even. This also helps to avoid sweating which can spoil your makeup.

·         Now thoroughly apply hide and conceal cover stick, £1 to hide the scars and imperfections on your face.

·         Now apply a highlighter such as single eye shadow in pearl shade 1, £1 on the tops of your cheekbones, brow bone and the inner corner of the eyes to make everything pop!

·         Always set your foundation with a pressed powder, £1 by evenly applying on the face and neck.

·         Smokey eyes are always a good option for a glamorous look. I recommend trio eye shadow set in Smoke Screen, £2.50

·         Choose your lipstick in accordance with your dress. However go for darker shades if it is a night party. I LOVE shade 1, £1

Choosing the Best Shade of MUA Blusher for Your Skin

Blush is meant to be a natural and subtle looking makeup by its very nature. Choosing the best blush depends on the natural flush in your basic skin tone.

Skin tone is the key to finding that perfect shade of blush. The colour that look good on you will depend on whether you have a cool, warm, yellow or dark skin tone. Look at your cheeks in a mirror after you've worked out or been in the cold. The exact hue of the blood flush in your face is what you want your blush to be. This flush can also be seen in the palms of your hands. For easy shopping, just place any blush colour onto your palm to see how closely the flush and blush match.

~

Cool skin tones

Cool skin tones tend to be on the fair to rosy side. Skin tones look best with a light blush with a hint of pink. The pink brings warmth to the face without appearing unnatural against the skin. Try Shade 1, £1

Warm Skin Tone

Warm skin tones tend to be on the flushed to golden side. They contain underlying tones of red or orange. These skin tones look best with a smokier blush or hint of brown. This helps bring out the natural flush without appearing red-faced. Try Mosaic blusher in ‘English Rose’ £2.

Yellow Skin Tones

Olive kissed or Asian skin tone, they both have an underlying yellow essence. Use warmer pinks and plums to help bring out your natural flushed tone. Try shade 2, £1

Dark Skin Tone

The darker the skin, the bolder the colour can be. For tanned or brown skin, try bronze, apricot or even raspberry blush shades. For dark or black skin, try red, apricot, magenta, or gold blush shades. Try shade 4 for dark skin tones, £1.

Karla’s Review on MUA’s Eye Primer…

MUA’s Professional Eye Primer is the newest addition to the professional range for only £2.50! So here is my review and reasons why I LOVE MUA’s eye primer which claims: “Long-Lasting. Smoothing. No Crease.” – Everything you could want from a prime!

Reason #1
The MUA applicator is user friendly - the sponge is rounded and you don't risk poking or scratching yours or a models eyelid. The applicator also picks up the right amount of product to be applied to the eyelid
~
Reason #2
The feel of the product itself is silky and easy to distribute over the lid. The product also has this amazing sheen which can be used as an actual eye shadow, which makes the eyes appear brighter.
~
Reason #3
Using the MUA Primer with an eye shadow creates a perfect sticky base in order for eye shadows to stay put for longer. I can definitely assure you it has amazing staying power!
~
Reason #4
It has peachy tone to it, and when it is blended into the skin it leaves a very subtle base colour. This then ensures you have a true base to build an eye shadow look on to your eyes.
~
So for just £2.50 from Superdrug, it's definitely worth a try and is a must in your make-up bags!
~
Have you tried the MUA Eye Primer yet? If so what do you think of it and why would you ever pay more than £2.50 for an eye primer when you can get MUA’s! :D

My Top 3 On-Trend Winter MUA Nail Shades

I am in love and just discovered my top 3 on-trend MUA nail colours to invest in this winter, so forget those fluorescents because autumn/winter's nail polish palette just got grown up. Pastels and barely -there beiges, this season’s shades mirror fashion’s obsession with all things luxe and ladylike, so to help you make your mind up on which colour to pick I have discovered the 3 must-have colours to add to your collection…

Shade 21, £1

This shade reminds me of Chocolate! It’s Cosy, comforting and very addictive (!), earthy browns and rich mochas scream sophisticated.
Shade 19, £1
This shade is labelled as ‘mannequin nails’ in the industry, models at ChloĆ©, Dior and Marc Jacobs all wore neutral tones ranging from milky nudes to creams.

Shade 24, £1

I love this icy lilac colour… It totally brightens my nails on those miserable winter days. Coloured nails are officially chic again!
So which is your favourite shade this winter?
