Tips, Tricks and Clever Uses for MUA Nail Varnish!

If you're anything like me you have bottles of MUA nail varnish building up from new shades to old shades from years ago.  What you might not know is there are plenty of ways to put that nail polish to use besides just decorating your fingers.  Nail polish is a magical thing in and of itself – after all, it can completely finish a look and make your nails look fabulous. Since my MUA polish collection is constantly multiplying, I recently began to wonder if there were any other things that I could use my favourite MUA nail polishes for – and turns out, there are! So here are my top uses:

Fixing tights
We all know how frustrating it is when you see a run appearing in your tights that you just put on. This is a definite day ruined, as you can already start to imagine how much worse it is going to get throughout the hours ahead.

But if this happens to you, don’t worry – clear MUA nail polish-Shade 17-£1 can come to the rescue! Just paint on the run when it’s still new and small and voila! Now, the run won’t be able to continue any further and you can rest easy knowing that your run won’t be able to run rampant all day!
  Custom Hair Grips

I picked up this little DIY trick from a friend and have loved it ever since! Hair grips are a staple among my hair supplies but sometimes they can get a little boring. To spice it up, hold a hair grip by the flat bottom part, pick your favourite MUA polish (or polishes) and get creative! You can paint it one colour, stripes of two colours, polka dots, or whatever your heart desires! I mean, who wouldn’t want a Chanel Black Pearl hair grip?! Or what about custom earrings? So cool!
Custom Shoes
Use it to paint the sole of your high-heels (think: Christian Louboutin!) as an easy (and cheap!- Especially using MUA £1 nail varnishes) way to update them for spring. Note: Coloured opaque MUA formula's work best since they won't reveal the true colour of your shoe. Also, avoid getting paint on other parts of your shoe by placing masking tape along the edge where the shoe meets the sole—the same way you would protect the ceiling and window panes when you’re painting a room. Once you've covered the sole in colour, allow it to dry before applying a second coat. If another layer isn't needed, pull off the tape to reveal a neat polish job. Shade 6-£1 would be perfect for this look!
Protect your fake jewellery

Prevent new, fake jewellery from tarnishing. When air hits the metal, it oxidises it and changes its colour. Since Shade 17 Clear MUA Nail varnish locks out the air, it helps keep your costume jewellery looking new. Note: This will not work on already-tarnished accessories.
Colour-Code Keys

All your keys look the same? Differentiate them by painting the tops of each key a separate MUA Nail varnish colour. This is great to help you remember which key is which!
