Happy New Year MUA Lovers! Here are my top nail looks and party makeup tips for your New Year’s Eve party…

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Santa brought you all those beautiful MUA cosmetics you wanted in your stockings! So if you were on Santa’s good list you can sure experiment today with them to create some wonderful looks for that extra glamorous party look to your New Year’s Eve party!
~
Here are my two favourite nail looks you can rock on New Year’s Eve:

2012 is the year of the Dragon, so nails inspired by Dragon fire-
Step 1:
Apply two coats of red nail varnish in Shade 8, £1 to all your finger nails. Let this dry completely.

Step 2:
Starting from the tip of the nail using black liquid eyeliner in Shade 5, £1 apply random wiggly lines crossing over each other to represent flames. I used an image of Google of flames to inspire me here. Remember you need a steady hand. Let this design dry completely, then in-between your black wiggly line’s I applied a gold liquid eye liner in Shade 3, randomly between the black line’s which added dimension to the flame effect. Let the gold liquid liner dry completely.

Step 3:
To keep that beautiful design on all night long apply a clear top coat in Shade 17,£1. Let this dry completely.

Firework inspired nails:

Step 1:
I love these two colours at the moment together but this is totally up to you which colours you choose, just use your new year’s outfit as inspiration J . Apply Shade 3 (pink) & Shade 2 (black) both £1 each alternative to your fingernails. Let this dry completely.
Step 2:
To get the firework effects to the nails I used gold liquid eye liner in Shade 3, £1 and the black liquid eyeliner in Shade 5, £1 with a steady applying both colours to the corner of the nails in thin dotted lines. Let this dry completely.
Step 3:
To give it that extra glam to the nails I then added a little bit of gold glitter gel eyeliner in Shade 2, £1 on top of the firework dotted lines. let this dry completely then add a clear top coat in Shade 17, £1 to keep your design lasting longer.

Which designs are your favourite?

Party Make-up...

~
Party Makeup is very different from the makeup we apply on a regular basis. As most of the parties are scheduled on evening, New Year’s Eve make up is more glittery and glamorous than the regular make up you are used to doing. So here are some pointers before you apply your New year’s eve make up:

·         Go for a makeup that suits the mood of the party is it a nightclub, a house party or maybe some nice to eat with the family?
·         Choose the makeup that complements your skin tone.
·         If you are planning to do something new make sure you trial it first.

Tips for New Year’s Eve Makeup:
·         Applying a highlighter such as single eye shadow in pearl shade 1, £1 on the tops of your cheekbones, brow bone and the inner corner of the eyes will make everything pop!
·         Set your foundation with a pressed powder, £1 by evenly applying on the face and neck to make sure your make-up stays on all night long.
·         Smokey eyes are my favourite look for any parties, and are always a good option for a glamorous look for New Year’s Eve. I recommend trio eye shadow set in Smoke Screen, £2.50.
·         Choose your lipstick in accordance with your dress. However go for darker shades if it is a night party. I LOVE shade 1, £1, which I keep wearing at the moment!

How to get ‘Twelve Drummers Drumming’ inspired nails. The inspiration for this look came from the tradition uniform marcher drummers wear- so the colours that stood out to me was green and red military style jackets, which is perfect colours for Christmas, then taking inspiration from the drummers drums was the zig zag string around the drum which is perfect to add detail to the nails with a splash of glitter to give it some Christmas magic.

Step 1:
Begin by applying Shade 13 nail varnish (Pearl Green), £1 to every other finger nail. Then apply Shade 14(Pearl Red),£1 to the remaining finger nails. Let this dry completely.

Step 2:
Using the Extreme felt eyeliner pen in black, £2 with a steady hand begin to lightly draw zig zag lines across your nails, where each zig zag finishes I have drawn a small dot- this inspiration came from the drum. I have created different zig zag patterns on each nail- just have fun and create your own style! Let this dry completely.
Step 3:
Now where I have applied dots to the zig zags with the felt eyeliner I have applied silver gel glitter in Shade 1, £1 on top of the dots for some Christmas sparkle!  Let this dry completely.

Step 4:
Now set those beautiful green and red nails with a clear top coat in Shade 17, £1.

Here are my completed drummers drumming nails :)

On The Tenth Day of Christmas My True Love Sent to Me,

Ten Lords a- leaping …

How to get ‘Ten lords a leaping’ inspired nails and lips. The inspiration for this look is very different to all my other looks. I found it very hard to come up with  a look for ten lords are leaping however after some long hard thinking I got inspired by today’s government at the house of ‘lords’ at Number 10 , Downing street in London! So what better to take inspiration from the famous black door with number 10 in gold? Find out how to get these beautiful gold and black nails and lips….

Nails:
Step 1:
Begin by applying Shade 2 nail varnish, £1 to all your finger nails. Let this dry completely.

Step 2:
Using gold liquid eyeliner in Shade 3, £1 with a steady hand begin to lightly draw number 10 in the middle of your nails. You can add as many tens as you want!! Or Shade 2 nail varnish alone is just gorgeous! Let this dry completely.
Step 3:
To give those black nails a shinier look and to last longer, apply a clear top coat in Shade 17, £1 to all your finger nails.

Lips:

Step 1:
At MUA we currently don’t have a black lipstick so I have used the intense colour eyeliner in Shade ‘Jet Black’, £1 where I lined my perfect lip look then finally filling in all the remaining lip area with the pencil.  In my opinion this eyeliner is so much better than any other black lipsticks I have used as it’s creamy and such a strong pigment, however if you do want this to last all night or for a show, photo shoot etc. I suggest you set it with a black eye shadow.
Step 2:
Now taking inspiration from No.10 door I have used a gold liquid eyeliner in Shade 3, £1 applied to the inner part of the top and bottom lip, as it’s wet gently dab this into the lips with your finger to blend the colour out.
Step 3:
Finally set the gold liquid eye liner and to make the gold more pigmented apply single eye shadow in Shade 30, £1 onto the liquid eyeliner. This also make’s the lips look sparkly!

And there we have our 'Lords a-leaping' inspired nails and lips:
